Knight Fam
How do you know when you’ve found your ideal client? When they show up wearing matching shoes with you! I know it’s not a big deal but those little synchronicities show me I’m in the right place at the right time. Sometimes I feel like my work isn’t good enough, I’m not like other photographers I look up to, but then I remember I’m not here to emulate something that’s already been done by someone else. I’m here to connect to my clients (and I just have to say clients isn’t a good enough word for the people who hire me to take their photographs). I want to create artwork that people remember not only the gorgeous photographs but the conversation we had while I snapped away. I want to make art that expresses emotion and movement, sometimes it’s blurry sometimes it’s crisp (I can ALWAYS get a crisp focused shot. - can I creatively capture the moment in chaos and translate it to print in a way to works?). My work has been shifting to more play, can I play with my apperatue? can I play with the shutter speed? can I play with the toddler I’m photographing? can I play with the light and shadows? Sometimes yes, sometimes I love the images I create and when I don’t I delete them, no guilt no shame, just gone poof, like the moment, not every second has to be frozen for eternity, just the ones that mean something. Who gives it meaning? Me the artist, the co-collaborator, the client. It’s a collaboration. I loved collaborating with this fam.
