Seven Swords
S E V E N of S W O R D S
We all wear masks. I’m not talking about those paper cloths on your face. I’m talking about the deep layers of hiding our truth. The ones we put on for public display to hide our shame and even our joy. This card is one of deceit, betrayal, getting away with it and yes, even omissions of truth are, lies. In the RWSC deck (yellow on lower left) we see a man sneaking off with swords (symbols of masculinity) and smirking to himself for his trickery.
When we receive this card we’re being reminded that things may not be as they seem are we tricking those around us, but not living authentically. and expressing our truths, or are we victim to the lies and deceit others have done unto us?
We all lie and if you’re in touch with your truth barometer you know you’re lying all the time, each time you keep a truth to yourself and omit it from the universe is a lie. We can accept this and learn from it, but what happens when those around us omit truths from us? How do we react? What are the consequences of those lies and what do we do once we have the truth?
What do I mean about hiding our shame and joy?
I mean what secret are you too scared to share? that is your shame, the thing you can’t tell anyone and it will get heavier and heavier each day until you find someone you can trust to hold the weight of it with you. And most shame is manufactured by our society to keep us in hiding or from helping others. This is not only true of our deepest shame, but sometimes our greatest joys. If we are afraid of others judging us for our joy we might keep it a secret. We might not want to announce such pleasure amidst such pain, because of fear of how others will perceive us. It keeps us in a different box of oppression one where we feel selfish or scared that we wont be loved and accepted if we speak our truth or joy.
Sometimes people lie to hurt us, but more often than not they do it to protect themselves and their ego. Who are you lying to yourself or everyone else?
