Washington June 2021
Every year we try to do something memorable with the kids. We either go for a big trip if funds allow or we do a big road trip! This year was a road trip year. We started in Spokane, Washington with my sister and her family. We got there for my nephew’s high school graduation and stayed for about a week to enjoy some family time. While we were there we went Strawberry picking with my sister, her mom and her aunt (different mom’s we’re 10 year apart! even though she looks younger). We also played some board games, watched TV and the kids jumped on the trampoline, nothing too exciting so we’ve got a lack of photographic proof. After we departed her house we set off to our first campsite in between Spokane and Seattle. The dogs, well one dog in particular, isn’t socialized. She was a rescue and barks and is aggressive towards every other dog she meets, except our pup - they got along so well at adoption we didn’t realize she was so dog aggressive. Anyway, it’s a huge hassle traveling with her because she barks at every dog that goes by. So we had to be super vigilant about walking her at campsites, the more secluded the sites the better. We often would find lots of little walks to take the kids and dogs on to get them out of the site and wear them out. We were only there for one night and we enjoyed the lake at sunset before heading to Seattle the next morning. We ended up getting into town a bit too early for our hotel so we found a lunch spot to wait at called Burb’s Burgers which was a fun little burger pop up food truck in a neighborhood we happened to be passing through. Once we thought it was actually time to check into our hotel, we headed to South Lake. Unfortunately, our hotel was not ready. So we walked down to the water and thankfully they held our car and belongings safe in the garage. We found some shade and read and relaxed with the dogs while we watched teenagers and families jump off the bridge into the lake. It was during the heatwave in Seattle this summer, and while we were well adjusted to the heat from being from Phoenix, the locals seemed to be searching for any way to cool off. We finally did check into our hotel and they gifted us complimentary parking for our troubles. Much appreciated because I love saving $70 by just staying calm and flexible. Here’s a peek at Washington…
